ATTENTION RESIDENTS OF CHESILHURST
The general public of Chesilhurst Borough is hereby notified that a vacancy exists on the Chesilhurst Board of Education. It is the intention of the board of education to fill this vacancy as soon as possible following its effective date. The appointment shall be for a full three-year term. Accordingly, the successful appointee will serve only from on/about February 19, 2024, through the Board’s Reorganization Meeting in the first week of January 2027.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be appointed at the Board’s Meeting of February 19, 2024.
In accordance with New Jersey State Law, those persons interested in assuming the duties of a member of the board of education shall have the following qualifications:
1. Be able to read and write.
2. Hold citizenship and one year’s residence in the school district.
3. Be at least 18 (eighteen) years of age.
4. Have no interest in any contract with, or claim against, the board.
5. Not hold office as mayor or member of the governing body of the same district.
6. Be registered to vote in the district and not be disqualified as a voter under N.J.S.A. 19:4-1 and not convicted of any crime/offense set forth in N.J.S.A. 18A:12-1.

The Board will conduct interviews at its meeting on February 19, 2024. The interviews will be held in public session. Candidates will be contacted prior to the meeting to further discuss the process.
