ATTENTION RESIDENTS OF CHESILHURST
The general public of Chesilhurst Borough is hereby notified that two vacancies exist on the Chesilhurst Board of Education. It is the intention of the board of education to fill these vacancies as soon as possible. The appointments shall be to fill two unexpired terms. Successful candidates will serve until the next re-organization meeting of the Chesilhurst Board (January 7, 2026) and are expected to run in the General election held in November 2025 for the final year of the term of office.
It is anticipated that the interviews and appointment of successful candidates will take place at the Board’s Meeting on February 20, 2025.
In accordance with New Jersey State Law, those persons interested in assuming the duties of a member of the board of education shall have the following qualifications:
- Be able to read and write.
- Hold citizenship and one year’s residence in the school district.
- Be at least 18 (eighteen) years of age.
- Have no interest in any contract with, or claim against, the board.
- Not hold office as mayor or member of the governing body of the same district.
- Be registered to vote in the district and not be disqualified as a voter under N.J.S.A. 19:4-1 and not convicted of any crime/offense set forth in N.J.S.A. 18A:12-1.

The Board will conduct interviews at its meeting on February 20,2025. The interviews will be held in public session. Candidates will be contacted prior to the meeting to further discuss the process.
